How Translation Prices Are Calculated

The Base Unit: 1,000 Characters
In the translation industry the price is calculated per character, not per word, and the standard unit is 1,000 characters. If your file is a PDF, Word document or plain text, the character count is produced instantly. If the text cannot be read automatically from a scan or photo, our team reviews the document and sends a firm price within 24 hours.
What Drives the Price
How the Notary Item Scales
On the notary side, one page = 1,000 characters, and any partial page is rounded up:
| Characters | Pages | Notary item |
|---|---|---|
| 900 | 1 | 1 × page fee |
| 2,000 | 2 | 2 × page fee |
| 2,747 | 3 | 3 × page fee |
So if a sworn translation alone is sufficient, do not order notarisation — on a multi-page document the notary side is the largest single item.
A Worked Example
A 2,000-character general Turkish–English text, standard turnaround, notarised:
The system shows these items separately the moment your document is uploaded — nothing new appears at the payment step.
