Translating Diplomas and Transcripts

Which Documents Are Requested?
Grades Are Carried Over, Not Converted
The most common mistake is grade conversion. A translator does not convert a 3.20/4.00 average into another system; they carry it over exactly as written and, where needed, attach the university's official conversion table. Grade conversion is the prerogative of the evaluating institution — a translator adding interpretation makes the document look suspect.
Course Titles
Course titles are translated by meaning, not word for word. A course such as "Statics and Strength of Materials" is given its counterpart in the target country, while the course code and credit information are preserved exactly. ECTS credits are never converted.
Which Certification Layer?
Timing
During the application season (June–September) both notary offices and the governorate are busy. If an apostille is needed, allow at least one extra week.
Spelling of Names
If the name on the diploma is spelled differently from the passport (ş/ç/ğ characters, a middle name), the institution cannot match the documents. The translation follows the passport spelling and preserves the original spelling in brackets.
